Value: £2,200,000 ACT was awarded a large asbestos removal contract for The Derbyshire Royal Infirmary by Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The contract required the removal of asbestos containing materials from the various buildings and subterranean structures located across the 17 acre site. The buildings ranged from single storey basement structures to a 13 storey residential tower block. The asbestos works were carried out to facilitate the demolition works of the site in late 2015. Works were successfully completed in just 10 months meeting the client’s tight timescales.

ACT’s specification was to plan a detailed programme to ensure the building remained operational during our works. The programme included removing thermal insulation debris and residues to walls, floors and pipe work under fully controlled conditions followed by encapsulation work.

Value: £200,000 Project: Removal of pipe insulation next to a priceless organ within a Cathedral , Grade I listed building. Solution: Licensed scaffolding was required to build the large tower that would form the enclosure. The priceless stone work, choir stands and wooden wall carvings all had to be carefully covered and protected prior to any removal works. ACT had to work with the Cathedral organ team to carefully remove thousands of pipes locating the asbestos pipes that required removal. All works were planned over several months and the programme was carried out exactly to schedule and within budget.

Value: £70,000 Duration: 2 Weeks ACT removed AIB under the windows covering the cavity beneath the sills and ceramic tiling to the window sills of 4 floors of the building.  Works were carried out under fully controlled conditions.
